Intel introduces new 60 nanometer processors

Intel Corp. has made another new small processor which will be used in latest ultrathin laptops and is expected to create good competition for Apple as this new processor will be used by many other companies which are looking forward to make ultrathin laptops.
The new Core 2 Duo SL 7100 LV processor is similar but not exactly the same to the one presently being used in Apple MacBook Air which was specifically developed to meet the requirements of Apple. The new processor is based on 60-nanometer process and is 60% smaller than the standard-size processor.
SL 7100 LV chip consumes less power as it operates at lower speed of 1.2 GHz (with 4 MB cache) and uses 12 watts of power which is less as compared to the processor presently being used in Apple MacBook Air which operates at 1.6 GHz to 1.8 GHz and consumes 20 watts of power.
