Dell Goes Tablet With the Latitude XT

Dell announced that it would launch its first tablet “Latitude XT” by the end of the year, which is expected to be the only under-four pound LED convertible tablet at the time of launch. Latitude XT would enable users to navigate the screen with touch of a finger or digital pen as it does not require any pressure to recognize input.

The 3.5 pound tablet would have 12.1 inch (1280×800 pixel) touch screen, Intel’s ultra-low voltage processor, ATI graphics card, ExpressCard, upto 3 GB RAM, HDD ranging from 40 GB to 120 GB (solid state drives would be available in 32 GB and 64 GB) and an optional 9-cell battery which would have backup of 9.5 hours once full charged. Customers would have a choice between Windows Vista Business and Vista Ultimate as operating systems.

Latitude XT would also have the latest wireless technology such as 802.11n Wi-Fi and integrated 3G mobile with pull-out antenna for better reception. This tablet also includes a biometric fingerprint reader and TPM which is a big positive point for business users.
