It seems that almost all major laptop manufacturers are moving towards Linux Laptops these days. As everyone knows that the obvious reason for moving towards Linux laptops is the fact that it is relatively much cheaper than the laptops which comes bundled with Windows that too now Windows Vista, which seem to very overpriced at the moment.
But such a move to move towards Linux can have a negative impact too, as many of youngsters and even software professionals were not as proficient in Linux than that they were in Windows based OS, hence those would prefer to have the laptops pre-installed with Windows Vista rather than Linux.
It has its advantages too and that the main advantage is that of the price, as Linux laptops are surely going to bring down the price of laptops very considerably now. The other advantage is that of security which is said to much higher in Linux than that of Windows based laptops which were evident on many such previous instances.
Coming back HP is planning to introduce these Linux laptops in the second quarter of 2008. They are going to offer Novell’s Suse Linux Enterprise which will be preinstalled at their factories itself and ready to use for the end user. HP is also going to rollover Linux PCs too in the very near future.
Although this is a good move but only time can tell on how successful are these Linux based laptops are!
HP introduced their new ultra portable laptop named as Compaq 2133. It comes with a C7-M microprocessor which was manufactured by Taiwan’s Via Technologies rather than going for a chip from Intel and hence making it ultra cheap too.
The weight of this ultra small portable laptop is just 1.19 kg which makes it an ideal weight. It comes with 1 GHz to 1.6 GHz processor from the Taiwanese based chip maker. It runs on Windows Vista or Linux Desktop.
The screen size is just 8.9 inches, but the resolution of this screen is an amazing 1280 x 769 pixesl. It comes with the common other features of that of a regular laptop.
The storage for this portable laptop comes with around 120 GB. It has also an amazing battery life of two hours with the regular 3 cell battery and double the battery life with 6 cell battery.
It is priced at around $500 to $900 depending on the features that it comes along with.
After this, more other players will also start offering such ultra small laptops. Such laptops are ideal for those who don’t like their laptop to bulky. It was launched in United States and they are planning for a worldwide launch soon.
HP recently has launched a new artistic edition of their Pavilion dv2800t. This is claimed to have been the first of its kind move by any laptop manufacturer. The design of this laptop looks really stunning with really amazing piece of art spread across the length and breadth of the laptop making it a “all eyes on you” type of laptop. But this edition of laptop can be termed as designer laptop from HP.
This laptop comes with the Core 2 Duo processor, 250 GB Hard disk drive, and 3 GB DDR2, and is also preloaded with the Vista Home Premium edition.
They are planning to ship this artistic HP laptop some time around March 19th of this year.
They had come up with this design after surveying many youngsters and finally settled on this stunning art form for their laptop.
This is another move by HP to get the market share of youngsters who are the major driving force when it comes to laptop sales. To prove the point HP also had launched a more sleeker version of their laptop designed specially for the current modern day women who prefer sleeker and stunning looks for anything that they buy.
It is priced at around $999 and above. It also includes a designer bag which comes as free along with this laptop.
